Accountant - audit preparation (Providence, RI)

Cedar Rowan Transit Planning is a transit-planning firm in Providence working with agencies and riders. We are hiring an Accountant to take on audit preparation. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around ridership counts against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to fare systems, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with fare systems. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Providence. • We reply to every applicant.
