Accountant - audit preparation (Portland, OR)

Nova Harbor Transit Planning is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on audit preparation for fare systems, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. Work is collaborative and map-heavy. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around service alerts against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with fare systems. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Portland. • We reply to every applicant.
