Accountant - audit preparation (Pittsburgh, PA)

Nova Granite Housing manages affordable housing communities across Pittsburgh. We are hiring an Accountant to take on audit preparation. You would join a small organisation of about 44 people based in Pittsburgh. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to rent assistance, and clear open items. • Track costs around repair requests against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Pittsburgh. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
