Accountant - audit preparation (Philadelphia, PA)

Ironwood Sparrow Transit Planning plans bus and rail service for cities around Philadelphia. We are hiring an Accountant to take on audit preparation. You would join a small organisation of about 38 people based in Philadelphia. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to ridership counts, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around survey data against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with ridership counts. • A degree or certificate in accounting.
