Accountant - audit preparation (Oakland, CA)

Rivermark Meadow Community Partners Group is a nonprofit in Oakland supporting families with food, housing and job help, and we need an Accountant to lead our audit preparation. We are small enough to know everyone's name. What you will do • Track costs around client intake against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to donor records, and clear open items. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with donor records. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Oakland, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
