Accountant - audit preparation (Nashville, TN)

Northwind Rook Community Partners is a Nashville charity working with residents on basic needs and opportunity. We are hiring an Accountant to take on audit preparation. Mission matters here, and so does looking after staff. What you will do • Track costs around grant reporting against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Nashville. • We reply to every applicant.
