Accountant - audit preparation (Nashville, TN)

Foxglove Forge Transit Planning is a transit-planning firm in Nashville working with agencies and riders. We are hiring an Accountant to take on audit preparation. We like people who ride the bus and notice when things do not work. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around service alerts against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to survey data, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with survey data. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Nashville. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
