Accountant - audit preparation (Nashville, TN)

Nova Maple Water Authority supplies drinking water and treats wastewater for Nashville and nearby communities, and we need an Accountant to lead our audit preparation. Our work is invisible when it goes well, and we are proud of that. What you will do • Track costs around water quality against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to billing accounts, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • On site in Nashville, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
