Accountant - audit preparation (Milwaukee, WI)

Nova Meadow Water Authority operates treatment plants and pipelines around Milwaukee, and we need an Accountant to lead our audit preparation. You would join a small organisation of about 11 people based in Milwaukee. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around meter reading against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to pipe repairs, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with pipe repairs. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • On site in Milwaukee. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
