Accountant - audit preparation (Milwaukee, WI)

Silverline Wren Energy supplies electricity and gas to homes and businesses around Milwaukee. We are hiring an Accountant to take on audit preparation. Safety comes first on every shift. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to meter readings, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around billing disputes against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Milwaukee. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
