Accountant - audit preparation (Miami, FL)

Northwind Birch Arts Center Partners is an arts centre in Miami with a full calendar of events. We are hiring an Accountant to take on audit preparation. You would join a small organisation of about 53 people based in Miami. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around volunteer programmes against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to school partnerships, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with school partnerships. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Miami, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
