Accountant - audit preparation (Miami, FL)

Rivermark Sable Water Authority supplies drinking water and treats wastewater for Miami and nearby communities. We are hiring an Accountant to take on audit preparation. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to water quality, and clear open items. • Track costs around meter reading against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with water quality. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Miami. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
