Accountant - audit preparation (Memphis, TN)

Harborlight Pine Community Partners Group is a nonprofit in Memphis supporting families with food, housing and job help, and we need an Accountant to lead our audit preparation. You would join a large organisation of about 606 people based in Memphis. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to volunteer shifts, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with volunteer shifts. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Memphis, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
