Accountant - audit preparation (Memphis, TN)

Foxglove Sable Community Partners is a Memphis charity working with residents on basic needs and opportunity, and we need an Accountant to lead our audit preparation. You would join a small organisation of about 20 people based in Memphis. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to volunteer shifts, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Memphis. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
