Accountant - audit preparation (Madison, WI)

Nova Basin Inspection Services is an inspection company in Madison with field technicians and lab staff. We are hiring an Accountant to take on audit preparation. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to test reports, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • On site in Madison, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
