Accountant - audit preparation (Madison, WI)

Rivermark Ashton Farms is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on audit preparation for packing house output, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. We are a family-run business at heart. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to packing house output, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with packing house output. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Madison. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
