Accountant - audit preparation (Indianapolis, IN)

We are growing our team at Redstone Fern Transit Planning and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be audit preparation. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to route schedules, and clear open items. • Track costs around service alerts against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with route schedules. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Indianapolis. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
