Accountant - audit preparation (Houston, TX)

We are growing our team at Silverline Corner Learning Group and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be audit preparation. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around learning materials against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with student accounts. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Houston. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
