Accountant - audit preparation (Houston, TX)

Greenridge River Water Authority is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on audit preparation for meter reading, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Houston. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around billing accounts against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to meter reading, and clear open items. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with meter reading. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Houston. • We reply to every applicant.
