Accountant - audit preparation (Houston, TX)

We are growing our team at Clearpath Lantern Manufacturing and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be audit preparation. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to production lines, and clear open items. • Track costs around tooling against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with production lines. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Houston, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
