Accountant - audit preparation (Honolulu, HI)

Fernwood Yarrow Foods produces packaged foods at its Honolulu plant, and we need an Accountant to lead our audit preparation. Shifts are steady and overtime is planned. What you will do • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to sanitation schedules, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around cold storage against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with sanitation schedules. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Honolulu. • We reply to every applicant.
