Accountant - audit preparation (Honolulu, HI)

Harborlight Basin Inspection Services is an inspection company in Honolulu with field technicians and lab staff. We are hiring an Accountant to take on audit preparation. You would join a small organisation of about 40 people based in Honolulu. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to scheduling, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around equipment calibration against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with scheduling. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Honolulu, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
