Accountant - audit preparation (Honolulu, HI)

Silverline Ridge Water Authority is a public water utility serving the Honolulu area, and we need an Accountant to lead our audit preparation. You would join a small organisation of about 83 people based in Honolulu. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to capital projects, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around treatment plant data against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with capital projects. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Honolulu. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
