Accountant - audit preparation (Honolulu, HI)

Foxglove Vista Markets is a Honolulu retailer with stores, a distribution centre and online ordering. We are hiring an Accountant to take on audit preparation. We are friendly and busy, especially on weekends. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to online orders, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with online orders. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Honolulu, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
