Accountant - audit preparation (Hartford, CT)

Northwind Harbor Environmental Services serves homes and businesses with collection and disposal in Hartford, and we need an Accountant to lead our audit preparation. You would join a large organisation of about 776 people based in Hartford. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to weigh tickets, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with weigh tickets. • A degree or certificate in accounting.
