Accountant - audit preparation (Hartford, CT)

Ironwood Field Auto Group is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on audit preparation for parts orders, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a large organisation of about 544 people based in Hartford. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to parts orders, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around supplier deliveries against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with parts orders. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, afternoons. • On site in Hartford, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
