Accountant - audit preparation (Hartford, CT)

Fernwood Oak Legal Group is a Hartford practice with attorneys, paralegals and client-service staff, and we need an Accountant to lead our audit preparation. You would join a small organisation of about 45 people based in Hartford. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around document review against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, on a regular day shift. • On site in Hartford, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
