Accountant - audit preparation (Fresno, CA)

Ironwood Bright Water Authority is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on audit preparation for water quality, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. You would join a small organisation of about 167 people based in Fresno. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to water quality, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with water quality. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 28 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Fresno. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
