Accountant - audit preparation (Detroit, MI)

We are growing our team at Lumen West Care Services and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be audit preparation. You would join a small organisation of about 43 people based in Detroit. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to client records, and clear open items. • Track costs around caregiver training against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • Experience with client records. Working arrangement • Contract for eight months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Detroit. • We reply to every applicant.
