Accountant - audit preparation (Detroit, MI)

Nova Pine Property Management is a Detroit property manager with leasing, maintenance and resident services, and we need an Accountant to lead our audit preparation. Maintenance and leasing staff share information every day. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around vendor invoices against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with resident events. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • On site in Detroit. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
