Accountant - audit preparation (Des Moines, IA)

We are growing our team at Harborlight Meadow Manufacturing Group and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be audit preparation. Many of our supervisors started on the floor. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to production lines, and clear open items. • Track costs around tooling against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with production lines. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, spread across three days. • On site in Des Moines. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
