Accountant - audit preparation (Des Moines, IA)

Clearpath North Insurance provides coverage to households and businesses around Des Moines. We are hiring an Accountant to take on audit preparation. We invest in training for new adjusters. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around claims against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to customer complaints, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • Experience with customer complaints. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for four months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Des Moines. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
