Accountant - audit preparation (Des Moines, IA)

Fernwood Field Markets is a Des Moines retailer with stores, a distribution centre and online ordering, and we need an Accountant to lead our audit preparation. We are friendly and busy, especially on weekends. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around shrink and waste against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with pricing. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • On site in Des Moines. • We reply to every applicant.
