Accountant - audit preparation (Denver, CO)

Highbridge Orchard Energy supplies electricity and gas to homes and businesses around Denver, and we need an Accountant to lead our audit preparation. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Track costs around service connections against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to hardship programmes, and clear open items. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with hardship programmes. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Denver. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
