Accountant - audit preparation (Denver, CO)

Northwind Cobalt Insurance sells home, auto and small-business insurance in Denver, and we need an Accountant to lead our audit preparation. We invest in training for new adjusters. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around claims against budget and explain variances to managers. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to underwriting files, and clear open items. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • On site in Denver. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
