Accountant - audit preparation (Columbus, OH)

Nova River Water Authority supplies drinking water and treats wastewater for Columbus and nearby communities, and we need an Accountant to lead our audit preparation. Safety and public health guide our decisions. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to billing accounts, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around pipe repairs against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with billing accounts. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, on a regular day shift. • On site in Columbus, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
