Accountant - audit preparation (Cleveland, OH)

Lumen Wren Transit Planning helps transport agencies around Cleveland design routes and schedules, and we need an Accountant to lead our audit preparation. We value plain explanations. What you will do • Track costs around route schedules against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 20 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Cleveland. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
