Accountant - audit preparation (Cleveland, OH)

Fernwood Bright Insurance provides coverage to households and businesses around Cleveland, and we need an Accountant to lead our audit preparation. We care about how people feel on the worst day of their year. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Track costs around catastrophe response against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Full-time, Monday to Friday. • On site in Cleveland. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
