Accountant - audit preparation (Cincinnati, OH)

Stonegate Bright Markets Group serves neighbourhoods around Cincinnati with fresh food and everyday goods, and we need an Accountant to lead our audit preparation. You would join a small organisation of about 12 people based in Cincinnati. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to store inventory, and clear open items. • Track costs around promotions against budget and explain variances to managers. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Experience with store inventory. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Cincinnati, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
