Accountant - audit preparation (Chicago, IL)

We are growing our team at Bluepeak Fox Water Authority and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be audit preparation. You would join a large organisation of about 899 people based in Chicago. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around treatment plant data against budget and explain variances to managers. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to billing accounts, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • Familiarity with audit requirements. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Contract for twelve months, with clear deliverables from the first week. • On site in Chicago. • We reply to every applicant.
