Accountant - audit preparation (Chicago, IL)

Highbridge Bright Community Partners Group is looking for an Accountant. The job centres on audit preparation for food distribution, and it would suit someone who likes steady, practical work. We are small enough to know everyone's name. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to food distribution, and clear open items. What we are looking for • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • Experience with food distribution. • A degree or certificate in accounting. Working arrangement • Full-time, on a regular day shift. • On site in Chicago, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
