Accountant - audit preparation (Charleston, SC)

Greenridge Orchard Transit Planning is a transit-planning firm in Charleston working with agencies and riders, and we need an Accountant to lead our audit preparation. You would work closely with colleagues in operations, support and management. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to accessibility audits, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Track costs around ridership counts against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with accessibility audits. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 16 hours a week, mornings. • On site in Charleston. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
