Accountant - audit preparation (Charleston, SC)

Foxglove Haven Water Authority Partners supplies drinking water and treats wastewater for Charleston and nearby communities. We are hiring an Accountant to take on audit preparation. You would join a large organisation of more than 1,000 people based in Charleston. What you will do • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around meter reading against budget and explain variances to managers. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to billing accounts, and clear open items. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with billing accounts.
