Accountant - audit preparation (Charleston, SC)

Northwind Clear Environmental Services Group is an environmental-services company in Charleston with routes, transfer stations and recycling, and we need an Accountant to lead our audit preparation. Safety briefings happen every morning. What you will do • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to fleet maintenance, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with fleet maintenance. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for nine months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Charleston. • We reply to every applicant.
