Accountant - audit preparation (Buffalo, NY)

Highbridge Fox Early Learning operates neighbourhood childcare around Buffalo, and we need an Accountant to lead our audit preparation. You would join a small organisation of about 156 people based in Buffalo. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to licensing records, and clear open items. • Track costs around family communication against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Part-time, about 24 hours a week, with flexible days. • On site in Buffalo, with some flexibility after the first few months. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
