Accountant - audit preparation (Buffalo, NY)

Harborlight Yarrow Banking Services is a regional lender in Buffalo with branches and a growing mobile service, and we need an Accountant to lead our audit preparation. You would join a small organisation of about 33 people based in Buffalo. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to deposit accounts, and clear open items. • Track costs around loan files against budget and explain variances to managers. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Experience with deposit accounts.
