Accountant - audit preparation (Buffalo, NY)

We are growing our team at Foxglove Ember Markets Group and adding an Accountant whose main responsibility will be audit preparation. We like people who know our customers by name. What you will do • Track costs around store inventory against budget and explain variances to managers. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with online orders. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Full-time, with a steady weekday schedule. • On site in Buffalo, with some flexibility after the first few months. • We reply to every applicant.
