Accountant - audit preparation (Buffalo, NY)

Bright Glen Foods produces packaged foods at its Buffalo plant. We are hiring an Accountant to take on audit preparation. You would join a large organisation of about 980 people based in Buffalo. What you will do • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Keep the chart of accounts and supporting files tidy so anyone can follow them. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to cold storage, and clear open items. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Track costs around sanitation schedules against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. Nice to have • Experience with cold storage. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with a review at the end and a chance of extension. • On site in Buffalo. • We will tell you what to expect at each step of the hiring process.
