Accountant - audit preparation (Boston, MA)

Fernwood Lakeside Inspection Services provides independent inspection and testing for industry across Boston. We are hiring an Accountant to take on audit preparation. You would join a large organisation of about 796 people based in Boston. What you will do • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to field inspections, and clear open items. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Track costs around equipment calibration against budget and explain variances to managers. What we are looking for • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements. Working arrangement • Contract for six months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. • On site in Boston. • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
