Accountant - audit preparation (Birmingham, AL)

Amberfield Lantern Auto Group operates automotive service and parts businesses around Birmingham. We are hiring an Accountant to take on audit preparation. Service hours are steady. What you will do • Reconcile bank and vendor accounts each month, including anything tied to service appointments, and clear open items. • Build schedules for the annual audit and answer the auditors' questions. • Prepare journal entries and support the month-end close on a fixed calendar. • Review invoices and expense reports for accuracy before payment. • Work with purchasing and operations to fix recurring coding errors. What we are looking for • Two or more years of hands-on accounting experience. • A clear, patient way of explaining numbers to non-accountants. • Solid spreadsheet skills and comfort with an ERP or accounting system. • Careful attention to detail and a habit of checking your own work. Nice to have • A degree or certificate in accounting. • Familiarity with audit requirements.
